FILE INFO
CaptionSeeing the markings on King Prithu's right hand the markings of lotus flowers on the soles of his feet, Lord Brahma could understand that Prithu was a partial representation of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. His wife, Archi, was also a partial representation of the goddess Lakshmi. The brahmanas arranged for Prithu's coronation and all the people from all directions gathered paraphernalia and offerings for the King. Seated on the throne and decorate exquisitely, Prithu and Archi looked just like fire.
The demigod Kuvera presented the King with a golden throne. Varuna gave an umbrella that was as brilliant as the moon. From Vayu, the god of the air, Prithu received two sacred whisks of hair; from Dharma, the King of religion, a flower garland that would expand Prthu's fame; from Indra, the King of heaven, a valuable helmet; and from Yamaraja, the superintendent of death, he received a scepter with which to rule the world. Lord Brahma gave Prithu a protective garment made of spiritual knowledge. Lord Vishnu presented him with a Sudarshana disc, and Lakshmi devi gave him imperishable opulences. Lord Shiva presented him with a sword in a sheath marked with ten moons; and the goddess Durga gave him a shield bearing one hundred moons.
