FILE INFO | Caption | Brahma created four sons and he said to them, "My dear sons, now generate progeny." But because they were attached to the Supreme Lord and the goal of liberation, they preferred to remain celibate, and they expressed their unwillingness to their father. Brahma became very angry in his mind but he chose not to express it. Although he tried to curb his anger, it came out from between his eyebrows and a child of mixed blue and red was generated. Brahma gave the child the name Rudra and told him of the eleven selected places for him to reside. Then he gave Rudra eleven other names, among them is the name Shiva. | Headline | Brahma Gives Birth to Shiva | Copyright Notice | © Copyright The Bhaktivedanta Book Trust International, Inc.
