FILE INFO
CaptionIn the village of Panihati, Lord Nityananda istructed Raghunatha dasa to arrange a big festival and feed all the devotees yogurt and chipped rice. Raghunatha dasa was very pleased hearing this, and he brought chipped rice, yogurt, milk, sweets, sugar, bananas and other foods as well as hundreds of large pots. When the chipped rice was prepared and many devotees had gathered, the chipped rice was served to everyone. Then, Lord Nityananda Prabhu, in meditation, brought Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu there. Jokingly, Nityananda Prabhu took a morsel of chipped rice from every pot and pushed it into Lord Chaitanya's mouth. Then He offered him a place and had Him sit down. Seeing Lord Chaitanya eating with Him, Nityananda Prabhu became very happy and exhibited varieties of ecstatic love. He ordered, "All of you eat, chanting the holy name of Hari." Immediately the holy names "Hari, Hari" resounded, filling the entire universe.
-Summarized from Chaitanya-caritamrita, Antya-lila Chapter 6

The Panihati festival has continued in this way, offering pots and pots of chipped rice preparations to the Lord and then distributing the prasadam amongst the devotees, in honor of this pastime.
